History
Lisa Spector holds prestigious degrees from Juilliard (B.M) and the University of Southern California (M.M.). Lisa Spector’s Music School was opened on Main Street in Half Moon Bay in 1996.
As a concert pianist, Spector has performed in the U.S., China, France, Spain, Italy, and Poland. She claimed first prize in The International Piano Recording Competition, The New York and Los Angeles Chopin Competitions, and was awarded the Dewar’s Outstanding Young Artist of the Year.
Students and parents alike have described her as “inspirational,” “motivating,” and “compassionate.” One parent says that Lisa is a compelling evangelist of the beauty and educational benefits of classical music. In 1999, Lisa was trained in Carole Tillotson’s “Make Music” group lessons for young children. Lisa has resided in Half Moon Bay since 1990.
